Generally acknowledged as the more lyrically gifted member of New York hardcore rap duo Mobb Deep, Prodigy was born with a strong musical background. His grandfather, Budd Johnson and his great-uncle Keg Johnson are remembered for their contributions to the jazz bebop era. His mother, Fatima Johnson, was a member of 60s R&B group, the Crystals.
