OFELIA DEL ROSAL March 9th, 1966. Venezuelan vocalist whose music and vocal studies have been carried out by teachers Lina Brando, Humberto Diez, Csar Muoz and Pedro Salas in Caracas. He also took 'Master Classes' with David Collyer Sorrin in New York, teacher of Liza Minelli and Tony Bennet, and Madrid, with Helena Vallalta of the High School of Singing. These have been combined, uninterruptedly, with the recording of jingles for over 18 years. Member of The Recording Academy, she has shared stage with artists of the stature of Leny Andrade (the Lady of Brazilian Jazz) and Mercedes Sosa. On the national stage with renowned artists such as Aldemaro Romero, Simn Daz, Rafael 'El Pollo' Brito, Aquiles Bez, Huscar Barradas, Alfredo Naranjo, Rafa Galindo, Anibal Abreu, Maria Rivas, Biella Da Costa, Pedrito Lpez, Ma. Teresa Chacin, Luz Marina, The Quartet, Alexis Cardenas, Guillermo Carrasco, Henry Martinez, Gerry Weil, Luis Julio Toro, Cheo Hurtado, Orquesta Sinfnica Municipal de Caracas, Orquesta Sinfnica Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho, among many others. She has been devoted to the production of tributes to the most Venezuelans composers. Was nominated for The National Artist Award in 2000 as 'Best New Artist Revelation' for her first album Brasil en blanco y negro. She continued her work with Aldemareando, songs from the greatest Aldemaro Romero, for whom she was one of his favorite singers. He also had the kindness to print for this record the following words: '... Because it has already been said, there are musicians singers or just singers. Ofelia is the first, is her original condition, because that special talent derives her enviable romantic-jazz phrasing, that special mark which distinguishes her from the pile...' Aldemareando included participations of the Maestro Romero, Gurrufo Ensemble, Simn Daz (Grammy winner 2008), Ilan Chester and Otmaro Ruiz. Actually, shes one of the responsibles for the Venezuelan Aldemaro Romero Foundation, besides his widow, and for which recently produced the series of concerts 'Aldemaro always Aldemaro!' at the prestigious hall Corpbanca and the Aula Magna with the most relevant country artists. His third album, Vino Tinto, dedicated to the composer Henry Martinez, creator of emblematic themes as 'Your Return' which was recorded with Guillermo Carrasco. It's concert was also in Corpbanca next to The Orquesta Sinfnica Municipal de Caracas, conducted by Rodolfo Saglimbeni. In her fourth production of the 2006 Simn Daz Universal, she made a tribute to one of the most popular and recognized Venezuelan composers: Simn Daz, which songs had arranged whit sounds like world music and rhythmic flavors of latin genders like bachata, bossa-nova, Latin jazz, tango and bolero. In this opportunity she could convoke artists at the level of Chano Dominguez (one of the most important flamenco-jazz representatives of the world), Alberto Naranjo, Charlie Frmeta, Aquiles Bez, Otmaro Ruiz, Huascar Barradas, Alfredo Naranjo and Alexis Crdenas among others. Regarding this production, one of the most accredited journalists, Csar Miguel Rondn, commented: 'Hearing the CD, I could just get one conclusion: it is the most heartfelt tribute of our finest musicians, to the most important composers of our country. Ofelia del Rosal is the magic link. The album is beautiful ... a real gem! ' Her production of 2007, Flor de Mayo, was a tribute to Otilio Galindez. This time, by the musical production of Aquiles Bez and special guests like The Quartet, Rafael 'Pollo' Brito and C4 Trio. It's concert was placed at the Trasnocho Theater in January 2008 with total success. This CD was Nominated as Best Album of Center and South Amrica for the JUST PLAIN FOLKS MUSIC ORGANITATION AWARDS 2009, Nashville, USA.
