From Shore To Shore

Donegal, the Celtic Northwest of Ireland, with it's Irish language, folklore, legends, it's treasure of traditional songs and melodies and it's majestic landscape, provides inspiration for the compositions of the group Norland Wind. Donegal born Noel and Pdraig Duggan, also members of the Irish cult group Clannad (17 CDs, Grammy award) lend a strong Celtic element to the group's repertoire with songs in their native Irish language. Haunting harp instrumentals mostly written by Thomas Loefke, songs composed by singer/guitarist Kerstin Blodig and traditional songs from Donegal are the main features of the program. The harp, Kerstin's clear, expressive voice, Noel's earthy baritone, compact guitar and keyboard arrangements and vocal harmony blend to create a uniquely evocative and emotional sound. Mare Breatnach's fiddle and Eoin Duignan's uilleann pipes and low whistles put extra energy to this special Norland Wind sound. The current album 'From Shore to Shore' (Laika / Rough Trade) is after 'Norland Wind', (Celtic Heartbeat/Universal) and 'December Journey' (Alula) and 'Atlantic Driftwood' (Laika / Rough Trade) the group's fourth's album.
