Fellini, Visconti: Decadence & Dreams

UK two CD collection containing Nino Rota's extraordinary jazz and orchestral music for some of the landmark films of early 1960's Italian cinema, including two films that Martin Scorsese considers to be amongst the five best ever made - Federico Fellini's broadly autobiographical and hilarious 8, and Luchino Visconti's sumptuous Sicilian epic, IL GATTOPARDO (The Leopard). This set combines the original editions of these scores with that of Visconti's ROCCO AND HIS BROTHERS, and the BOCCACCIO 70 portmanteau, which featured episodes contributed by both Fellini and Visconti, master directors, who simultaneously (and with no little controversy) were at the time evolving from their respective original neo-realist roots.
