British-born Marian Turner met the famous cornet player Jimmy McPartland, married and together played all over the country with her husbands sextet before settling into a gig with her own trio in Chicago. By 1950 she was a fixture on New York's 52nd Street, appearing as a solo pianist at Condon's, the Embers, the London House and the Hickory House where she began an engagements that would last through to 1960. These sessions show McPartland swinging exuberantly.
