1964年2月15日ブルーノートの録音、全てリー・モーガンの曲で新境地に打って出る。共演者はテナーサックスのウェイン・ショーター、ピアノのがハービー・ハンコック、ベースのレジー・ワークマン、ドラムのビリー・ヒギンズ。名盤「The Sidewinder」が1963年12月21日の録音なのでわずか数ヶ月しかたっていない。今となれば「The Sidewinder」が陽で「Search for The New Land」が陰で一対をなす。起死回生を狙った眼光の鋭いモーガンの顔とタイトルの「Search for The New Land」と、当時の本人の気合を感じる。
