It would be impossible for anyone writing about the great days of British Big Bands to omit the name of the man who, by his sheer dynamic personality, took his outfit from the comparative obscurity of the small West End clubs to that of a household name of the era - Harry Roy. His regular Friday night broadcasts were eagerly listened to and his stage shows are still considered by many to have been the best in variety entertainment.
