SINGS DOOM is an anthology of George Melly single a & B sides, both solo and with the Mick Mulligan Band, recorded between 1955 and 1962. Our presentation includes the excessively rare Melly EP's GEORGE MELLY SINGS DOOM, NOTHING PERSONAL - GEORGE MELLY SINGS THE BLUES and ABDUL ABULDUL AMIR - GEORGE MELLY SINGS SONGS OF FRANK CRUMIT. This release may be seen as a soundtrack/companion piece to Melly's supremely entertaining first volume of autobiography, OWNING-UP, a loving evocation of the hedonist Jazz scene of 1950s Britain.
