ノルウェイ・ジャズ・ピアノ界の重鎮、アイナー・イヴェルセン(1930年生まれ)による2000年録音のピアノ･トリオ作品。当時70歳になっても衰えぬハイテンションは秀逸。

スタンダードやアメリカン・ソングブックを好んでプレイするイヴェルセンですが、本作でも冒頭の2曲（「My Ship」、「My Shining Hour」）を取り上げています。

そして、ジャズの巨匠達の曲も取り上げています。クリフォード・ブラウンなどをフィーチュアし、1953年ストックホルムで録音されたクインシー・ジョーンズの「Stockholm Sweetnin'」、ビル・エヴァンスがマネージャーに捧げた1968年の「One for Helen」、アルバム『ブルー・トレイン』に収録されたコルトレーンの1957年「Lazy Bird」、デクスター・ゴードン1962年の美しいバラード「Ernie's Tune」の4曲です。

更に、ビル・エヴァンスを思わせるワルツのリズムによる「Lill - Nedre Utsiktsvei 16A」、軽快な「Judith II」、「Gea」といった3曲のオリジナルも素晴らしい。

そして、ベースのアルコが美しいノルウェイの伝統音楽にインスパイアされた「Hav og Himmel」、スウェーデン人のショウマン、ピアニストであるPovel Ramel作でモニカ・ゼタールンドもとりあげた「Den Sista Jantan」など幅広い楽曲も収録。

ノルウェイのジャズ・シーンで活躍する、1941年生まれのドラマーSvein Christiansenと、リチャード・デイヴィスに師事した女性ベーシストTine Asmundsen(1963年生まれ)によるトリオ編成にて、澄み切った北欧の空気感、叙情性を満喫できる、語り次がれるべきピアノ・トリオの名盤です。

Einar Pastor'n Iversen - Piano

Einar is a noted veteran of Norwegian jazz. His career started at the end of the 1940's. Since then he has played with just about everybody. He was the first call pianist in Scandinavia for Dexter Gordon and other international artists. His last CD release was in 1990 - Who can I turn to?

Tine Asmundsen - String Bass
Born 8-4-1963
Tine has degrees from Østlandets Musikkonservatorium and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has studied with Richard Davis, and played with Alibi, Jazz Police, and Girl Talk.

Svein Christiansen - Drums
Born 6-8-1941
Svein started as a freelance musician in 1967. He has played with a long list of known Norwegian and international musicians, KORK, the Oslo Philharmonic orchestra, the NRK radio big band, etc.
