友人であるBunny Wailer(バニー・ウェイラー)、Peter Tosh(ピーター・トッシュ)、ジュニア・ブレスウェイトという若者も参加し、グループ名をWailers(ウェイラーズ)とした。当時ウェイラーズはスリムなパンツ・スーツといった当時の流行りであるアメリカン・ヴォーカル・グループの様なコスチュームにて活躍していたのである
