Bluesy and intensely swinging pianist Anthony Wonsey is back with his second Sharp Nine release, a trio and quartet outing featuring tenor giant Eric Alexander (on four tracks) and the rock solid rhythm combo of Nat Reeves and Joe Farnsworth. Wonsey's varied program features rejuvenated standards All The Things You Are and Billy Boy and four outstanding originals. The highlight is Wonsey's Eddie Harris inspired title tune The Thang which will definitely put feet and bodies in motion. This is a serious jazz recording that goes down easy - bright, bluesy and always in the pocket.
