Originally released in 1975, Al Green's Greatest Hits has been remastered as part of a series of remastered Al Green classics. The 10 track album includes hits such as Tired of Being Alone, Let's Stay Together, Here I Am and more. In 2003, the album was ranked number 52 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. The release has consistently ranked as one of the best executed 'greatest hits' albums in history.

湿気が多く、灼熱の夏。アル・グリーンの歌声を聴くと、なぜか体感温度が下がる気がする。あの絶妙な歌声、ハードなソウルではなく、冷ややでかつ体に染み入る。ある意味狂おしくもあり。

Al Green

不朽の名曲として後世に歌い継がれている「Let's Stay Together」で、その人気を決定的なものとしたAl Green。少し抑え気味に歌うそのスタイルは、裏に潜む今にもはじけそうなソウル（魂）を感じさせる。80年からはゴスペルに専念したが、93年には「Don't Look Back」で"ソウル"界に復帰している。
