チャールズ・ゲルハルト指揮、ナショナル・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団の組み合わせで録音されたマックス・スタイナーの映画音楽『風と共に去りぬ』です。ゲルハルトとナショナル・フィルによるにクラシック・フィルムスコアシリーズの一枚です。本盤は組曲版を収録していますが、本編の前に付いている、セルズニック・ファンファーレを含む有名な曲は全て収録しています。ゲルハルトは本職の指揮者では無いのですが、実に聴かせどころを上手く抑えて楽しく聴かせてくれる人物で、キンキラとしたタラのテーマなどオーケストラスコアの醍醐味が存分に味わえる非常に良い演奏です。録音も優秀で年代の割に良好です。
